Google Places
Create a google listing that helps you to be found in google for the type of work that you actually do. Your business Name is not always a good description of the type of work you do and may not contain the type of words that people search for when looking for your services. Eg Paul’s Catering will not be found unless someone knows the name of your business. People who don’t know you exist will search for things like “Catering Sydney” or “Party Catering” etc.
Business Directories
It is also a good idea to list your services in all the major business directories in your country, or other countries if your services extend that far. These usually allow you to link back to your website and a listing in these can often rank higher and more quickly then your website.
